Comparison between lab single screw extruder and lab twin screw extruder

Lab single screw extruder adopts integral structure, which consists of feeding section, melting section and metering section.

Compared with the lab single screw extruder, the laboratory twin screw extruder has more advantages.
(1) the average residence time of materials is short. The distribution of residence time is narrow, usually between 1~10 minutes.
(2) under the action of high shear and kneading force, the mixing effect of materials will be better.
(3) The two screws mesh with each other, scrape each other, have high self-cleaning ability, reduce material waste;
(4) The operation parameters are controllable and can be operated continuously for extrusion and mixing. The screw of each section can be matched arbitrarily, and the die mouth can be changed arbitrarily according to the shape.
(5) The mixing ability is strengthened; the distributed mixing and the dispersed mixing are interlaced, which makes the mixing of drug and carrier materials more uniform.
